Apni Chat Apna Ghar Scheme 2026: Phase 2 Complete Guide & Registration Details
Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has officially launched the registration for Phase 2 of the Apni Chat Apna Ghar Scheme.
If you want to build a new house from scratch, construct a second story on top of your existing house, or simply repair and renovate your current home, you can secure interest-free loans ranging from PKR 5 Lakh to PKR 15 Lakh from the Government of Punjab. These loans feature easy monthly installments with long-term repayment timelines.
Here is a comprehensive breakdown of everything shared about Phase 2, including categories, requirements, and documentation rules.
Phase 1 Performance Update
Before looking at Phase 2, it is worth highlighting the impact of the initial phase. In Phase 1:
- Around 174,000 individuals successfully had their home loans approved.
- The Government of Punjab disbursed approximately PKR 225 Billion for this initiative.
- As a result, 107,179 homes have already been completed, while 26,918 homes are currently under active construction.
The Three Loan Categories
Unlike Phase 1 (which was only for building a new home), Phase 2 has added two brand new options under the banner of “Apni Chat Mahfooz Chat” to support existing homeowners.
| Category | Purpose | Max Loan Amount | Repayment Tenure | Disbursement Method |
| Home Renovation (Apni Chat Mahfooz Chat) | Repairing your current house or adding a single room. | PKR 5 Lakh | 3 Years | Paid in 2 Installments |
| Second Story Expansion (Apni Chat Mahfooz Chat) | Building a double/second story on top of a single-story home. | PKR 10 Lakh | 6 Years | Paid in 2 Installments |
| New House Construction (Apni Chat Apna Ghar) | Constructing a new home on an empty, pre-owned plot. | PKR 15 Lakh | 9 Years | Paid in 2 Installments |
Crucial Note on the “2 Installments” System
The loan money will never be given to you in a single lump sum. Instead, it is disbursed sequentially to ensure it is actually spent on housing:
- First Installment: You receive half of the approved funds (e.g., PKR 2.5 Lakh out of a 5 Lakh loan) to initiate construction or purchasing of materials.
- On-Site Verification: Government teams will physically audit your progress. For instance, if you are expanding a story, they will verify that the walls have been built up to the roof-beam/lantern level.
- Second Installment: Once the team confirms the building activity, the remaining half of your loan will be released.
⚠️ Warning: Using this loan for business capital, weddings, or any other personal expenditures is strictly illegal. Misusing the funds can result in fines, forced recovery of the money, and potential legal prosecution.
Eligibility Criteria
To successfully apply, the candidate must meet these core provincial parameters:
- Provincial Residency: The applicant must be a permanent resident of Punjab and hold a valid domicile from a Punjab district. Residents of Sindh, Balochistan, and KPK are not eligible.
